When To Wear A Suit and When Not To
Which style Mens Suit is right for you?
There are basically three types of suits with plenty of crossovers.
- The European Italian Suit
- The British Suit
- The American Suit
Things to take into consideration when choosing a suit:
A suit must be appropriate to a region or industry. "What works in financial services in major
metropolitan areas is not going to work out so well in the middle of small town USA, The light blues,
greens and beiges one can get away with in the entertainment and the fashion industry might not
work in financial services, where dark solids, pinstripes and subtle patterns still are the top
choices. Similarly, the brighter colors and more creative styles of the West Coast look awkward
and out of place at an East Coast business meeting.
These days men are more selective about when and where to wear a suit as many work places have
become more relaxed with style of dress.
Where to wear a Suit?
As Examples:
- A business meeting
- A Board meeting
Where not to wear a suit?
- On a beach vacation holiday! Unless it is a cruise and you are dining with the captain of the ship!
- We have seen guys out on the golf course wearing suits .. we also think this is a good time not to wear a suit.
The two main styles of jackets:
Single-breasted:
Single-breasted coats button down the center. in regards to jacket; symmetrical front; buttons at the center; option of leaving coat buttoned or unbuttoned.
Double-breasted:
Double-breasted coats cross-over the center to button. In regards to jacket; one side of coat overlaps the center and buttons across to the other
side; usually gives a fuller look in the chest area; suggested that these coats be buttoned at all times while standing.
A suit should be well tailored, perfect fit jacket, shirt and trousers with the correct hem line. With coordinated tie to fit
the event you are attending the style, color pattern and your personality.
